Influence of Fiber Shape and Volume Content on the Performance of Reactive Powder Concrete (RPC)

This research studied the influence of three types open (short-straight, long-straight, semicircular) and different shapes closed steel fibers (triangular, rectangular, circular) with fiber contents by volume (0, 0.5%, 1%, 1.5%, 2%) on working mechanical performance reactive powder concrete (RPC). The results indicated that (1) number enclosed area formed would remarkably impact RPC; (2) semicircular improves RPC’s strength most among shapes; (3) short-straight works more effectively than fibers; (4) circular efficiently in improving while triangular ones have least effect (5) both improve their compressive flexural strength; (6) but less (7) enhance RPC via anchoring work confining concrete; (8) hybrid utilization to a higher level combing advantages fibers.
